A small business grants program gives you financial help to start or expand your business. These grants come in several forms. You can find a small business grant that is made available from governments agencies, corporations, and philanthropic organizations. Many grants are designed to help specific industries or demographics of business owners. Each of these programs has its own requirements and application process, but they all result in the same outcome: money flowing into your business.

The following grants are going to be the best grants we can find for small business owners in the United States. 

Venmo Small Business Grant

The Venmo Small Business Grant is the newest grant available for small business owners with it’s release on July 28th. To qualify you will need a Venmo for business account and have your business organized with the State. All applicants must be over 18 years old. 

The award is $10,000 and will be given to 20 Venmo account holders. Beyond the grant money mentorship and social media exposure will be given to the winners. 

Second Service Military Entrepreneur Challenge 

The Second Service grant, previously known as the Street Shares foundation, is made specifically for veterans. Previously their program was designed to contribute positive change to the veterans community. Now, with a new name and the same passion, they move to maximize their social impact on the military community.

Awards are:

1st place- $15,000

2nd place- $6,000

3rd place- $4,000

Applicants should submit a pitch video and fill out an application on the website. The foundation will choose up to 15 finalists to feature on the website and then the public will vote on 3 semi finalists. Those finalists will do a live pitch in Nashville at the Second Service Military event.

Fedex Grant

The FedEx Grant is possibly one of the most popular grants out there for small business owners. Who wouldn’t want $50k for their company! This program has been around for over 10 years and is well known in the business community. 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be a small business with less than 100 employees, including the owner. 
  • Must have a Fedex Shipping account and use it for your business. 
  • Must be a for profit company
  • Franchised businesses are not eligible

Love, Tito’s Small Business Grant Program

Together Titos Vodka and the Accion Opportunity Fund are offering $25,00 for businesses that inspire. Applicants will need to explain the similarities they have to the founder of Tito’s Vodka by showcasing their values of  grit, love, kindness, family, meaning and purpose. 

Qualifications: 

  • Be based in the United States
  • Have been in business for at least one year since launch (since June 2021)
  • Have earned less than $1 million in revenue in 2021
  • Have a business bank account
  • Not own a business in a restricted industry. While we wish we could offer these grants to the alcohol industry, as a manufacturer of a distilled spirit, we are legally prohibited from providing monetary funds to licensed accounts
  • There will be 10 winners of the $25,000 prize. 
  • Applications were accepted between June 1- June 30th 2022- Keep an eye out for future 

NASE Growth Grant

The NASE growth grant is up to $5000 for NASE members. NASE is the National Association for the Self Employed. Grants can be used for marketing, advertising, hiring employees, expanding facilities and other specific business needs. Since the program began in 2006, the association has awarded more than $650,000 to member businesses.

Qualifying is easy, all you need to do is be a member of the NASE community. Memberships can be purchased for $120 per year but there are other options available. 

Buddha Grants

Small Biz Buddha is offering $1000 grants for small business owners to help owners enjoy running their business a little bit more. Running a business can be hard and Small Biz Buddha is there to help. Grants will be awarded to the business owner with the best reason for applying.

Amber Grant for Women

WomensNet founded the “Amber Grant” in 1998. The grant was set up with one goal in mind: to honor the memory of a very special young woman, Amber Wigdahl, who died at just 19 years old — before realizing her business dreams.

Today, WomensNet carries on that tradition, proudly giving away at least $30,000 every month in Amber Grant money. In recognition of the diversity of businesses owned by women, we’ve also expanded our grant-giving to include “Marketing Grants,” “Business Category Grants,” as well as two “$25,000 Year End Grants.”

Doordash Restaurant Disaster Relief

To help restaurants recover in times of critical need, DoorDash has partnered with Hello Alice and the Global Entrepreneurship Network to create the Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund. The fund supports restaurants impacted by natural disasters like fires, floods and hurricanes, and provides relief through $10,000 grants.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be experiencing hardship due to a state or federally declared natural disaster
  • Must be independently owned
  • Must have a brick and mortar location, with 3 stores or fewer currently operating
  • Must have revenues of $3M or less per location in the last 12 months
  • Must employ 50 people or fewer per store

Deadline: submit an application for the summer funding round from July 11, 2022 – September 30, 2022. Applications must be submitted within 12 months of the declared disaster.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Energizing Small Business Grants

Applicants must be an existing BGE electric and/or gas customer with positive BGE credit history. Other eligibility criteria include:

  • For-profit business founded in 2020 or prior
  • In good standing (or on the way to) with the State of Maryland
  • A maximum of twenty-five (25) employees
  • Annual gross revenues in 2021 of less than $7 million USD
  • Demonstrated need for funding to support business and serve customers

Application Timeline- In 2022, the BGE Energizing Small Business grants is offering a second round of funding. Applications for the grant will be accepted from July 18, 2022 at 9 a.m. ET and through August 26, 2022, at 6 p.m. ET. Recipients will be announced in mid-October.

 

BACKED BY CLOVER– Nebraska Small Business Grant for Black Owned Businesses

In partnership with AEO, the Fiserv + Clover Back2Business Grant Program will award grants of $10,000 to eligible Black- or minority-owned small businesses. 

For applicants with a Fiserv associate referral code, please submit your application through this page.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be formed on or before January 1, 2021
  • Not be an awardee of a Fiserv Back2Business Grant in the last three (3) years
  • Be a Black- or minority-owned business
  • Be owned by an adult (18+)
  • Have revenue of less than $1M annually
  • Have fewer than 11 employees (including the owner)
  • Not be an employee of Fiserv or AEO
  • Not be an elected government official or family member of an elected government official
  • Be located in an eligible location listed below

SBA RESTAURANT FUND

The American Rescue Plan Act established the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) to provide funding to help restaurants and other eligible businesses keep their doors open. This program will provide restaurants with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business and no more than $5 million per physical location. Recipients are not required to repay the funding as long as funds are used for eligible uses no later than March 11, 2023.

Eligibility: 

  • Restaurants
  • Food stands, food trucks, food carts
  • Caterers
  • Bars, saloons, lounges, taverns
  • Snack and nonalcoholic beverage bars
  • Bakeries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Brewpubs, tasting rooms, taprooms (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Breweries or microbreweries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Wineries and distilleries (onsite sales to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Inns (onsite sales of food and beverage to the public comprise at least 33% of gross receipts)
  • Licensed facilities or premises of a beverage alcohol producer where the public may taste, sample, or purchase products

SO GAL Startup grant

SoGal Foundation has teamed up with Winky Lux, bluemercury, twelveNYC, Twilio, Walmart.org’s Center for Racial Equity and other sponsors to make a small step towards progress by providing several $10K and $5K cash grants to Black women or nonbinary entrepreneurs.

To qualify, you should:

  • Self-identify as a Black woman or Black nonbinary entrepreneur (inclusive of multiracial Black women and multiracial Black nonbinary folks)
  • Have a legally registered business
  • Plan to seek investor financing in order to scale, now or in the future
  • Have a scalable, high-impact solution or idea with the ambition to be the next billion dollar business.

Visa She’s Next Grant Program

Visa is continuing to take action and help remove the disproportionate barriers faced by women business founders. The Visa She’s Next Grant Program, in partnership with IFundWomen, will provide 5 winning businesses in each of the following participating countries: Egypt, KSA, Morocco, and UAE, with grants of $10,000 USD along with a one-year IFundWomen Coaching membership.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to any woman who meets all of the following eligibility requirements:

  • The entrant is a legal resident of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Arab Republic of Egypt or Morocco; and is only open to residents of these four countries.
  • The entrant’s business must be at least 51%  women-owned and operate their business in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Arab Republic of Egypt or Morocco
  • The entrant’s business must have a minimum annual revenue of  US Dollars 5,000 (or its equivalent)  or more
  • The entrant’s business must have been operating for at least one year

500 Global Flagship Accelerator Program

The 500 Accelerator program is more of a investment platform than a grant program but the value they provide is more than a lot of grant programs on this list. They are offering up to $150,000 in finding for founders looking to grow their startup. 

The cash on this program is they  charge $37,500 per company to participate, but these fees can be deducted from our investment amount, so you don’t have to pay out of pocket. As mentioned above, our gross investment is $150,000. Once program fees are deducted, you would receive $112,500. These program fees help to cover basic costs of running the Seed Accelerator, paying outside speakers and should be viewed like tuition.

Startout Founders program

Another program that isn’t exactly a grant program is the startout founders program. They offer startup advice by industry giants, funding outlets, and other support options. 

Our resources are designed to support LGBTQ+ founders at various company stages. This includes:

  • Aspiring founders who are developing their ideas
  • Solo-founders or teams developing scalable solutions
  • Founders open to building an enduring business in a number of different ways, whether through bootstrapping, funding, or otherwise
  • Founders of established companies (our network of accredited investors range from angel/pre-seed to Series D+)
  • We support any businesses that can scale. We are not industry-specific.
  • Service-related businesses (one on one coaching businesses, consulting companies, single brick & mortar establishments, etc) that are not scalable are not a good fit for our programs. 

Eligibility criteria:

  • At least one founder must identify as LGBTQ+
  • You work at least part-time on your startup
  • You are developing a scalable solution (product or service) to address a large market ($500 million or more)
  • You are able to identify specific and critical milestones that you can realistically achieve in the next twelve months
  • Remark: Service-related businesses will only be eligible for our community resources and Expert Office hours

What they expect from you:

  • A spirit of collaboration and responsiveness when interacting with your peers and others who contribute to the success of the program (mentors, experts, investors)
  • A commitment to report on few metrics during the program
  • Become a giving community member (monthly donation of $12.50) for the duration of the program or apply for an Empowerment or need-based scholarship.

BIPOC Small Business Grant

This grant is designed for minority business owners and is paid out in two ways. First they provide SEO services for small business. Second, they award $100 monthly for deserving small business owners. 

Application Deadline: Rolling for marketing consideration. By the last day of the month for micro-grant consideration for a given month.

Winner: Micro-grant winner will be selected randomly. Marketing grant winner will be chosen based on whether and how much we think we can help.

Fee: No. Never.

Costs: None. Like none.

Black Visionaries 

For the third year in a row, Instagram is partnering with the Brooklyn Museum and the curator Antwaun Sargent to invest in emerging creative communities. Building on the 2021 #BlackDesignVisionaries grant program, the 2022 program aims to uplift, center and invest in Black voices and organizations working across both art and design. 

Deadline July 31st!!!

We will award 10 grants totaling $650,000 to emerging Black artists and designers between the ages of 18 and 35 and small organizations no more than 10 years old. Five grant awards of $100,000 will be given to small businesses and nonprofits focused on design, and five grant awards of $30,000 will be given to artists and designers pushing culture forward by telling stories in experimental ways.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Black-identifying applicants are eligible.
  • You must be a legal resident of one of the fifty (50) United States or District of Columbia.
  • Your account must meet Instagram’s Community Guidelines (https://bit.ly/igcommunityguidelines). As well, we are looking for accounts that are active and public.
  • If applying for the Emerging Visionaries Grant, you must be born after June 15, 1987 and before July 17, 2004.
  • If applying for the Visionary Small Business Grant, 1) at least half of the leadership of your small business must be Black-identifying 2) you must be a Black-identifying leader of that business, 3) your business must be no older than 10 years on June 28, 2022, and 4) your business must employ no less than 3 employees and no more than 25 employees, excluding freelancers and interns.  You must also be at least 18 years old.  Business entities must be duly organized, validly existing, and in good standing under the laws of the jurisdiction of its principal place of business.

1863 3R’s Grant Program

A nation-wide education and grant program empowering New Majority businesses to navigate the effects of COVID-19 and racial bias.

Etsy Disaster Relief Fund

This small business grant program only works for businesses that sell on Etsy. 

Etsy is committed to helping our creative entrepreneurs recover when disasters disrupt their businesses. We’ve partnered with CERF+, a nonprofit organization focused on helping artists prepare for and recover from emergencies and disasters, to create a disaster relief fund just for Etsy sellers. Each quarter, we work with CERF+ to award grants to a select number of eligible sellers

Grants of $2,500 are available to sellers when they apply. The amount and frequency of grants will depend on the amount of money available in the fund at any given time.

Who is eligible? All Etsy sellers are eligible for a grant if they have experienced a federally declared natural disaster within the past year, have been an active seller on Etsy for at least one year, and their accounts with Etsy are in good standing.

Mastercard Fearless Strivers Grant Contest 

With Mastercard prizing, we’ll be awarding eleven lucky small businesses across the country $10,000 grants, digital tools to help them get and sustain their business online, and Priceless one-on-one mentorship so they can continue to bolster their business.

To enter you must answer 5 essay questions about your business, how it impacts your community, and how you will use the money. 

Entry Periods: 2/10/22 – 12/31/22

Open to black women who are legal U.S. residents (including DC), 18+ and the principal owner of a U.S.-based small business. Ends 12/31/22

Wish Local 

The Wish Local grant is a $2M dollar fund to give roughly 4,000 Wish Local small business partners financial support. The selected recipients will receive amounts between $500 – $2000. This program will only be open to Black-owned stores, to help promote equality and diversity in American business.

There are no specific requirements on how to allocate the funds.

Wish recommends you use these funds to

  • Keep your workforce employed
  • Pay rent, operation or inventory costs
  • Connect with new customers
  • Provide opportunities for your community

To be eligible, you must fall under all of the categories listed below:

The Freed Fellowship

The Freed Fellowship helps small business owners get the resources, mentorship, and community they need to build successful companies that make an impact.

$500 No-Strings-Attached Grant

If you are selected as a Freed Fellow, you will receive a $500 grant. You do not need to repay this money and do not need to give up any equity in your business. You can use these funds however you want to grow your business.

Klarna’s Small Business Impact Initiative

By investing $4.5 million in small businesses across the US—especially those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic—Klarna in partnership with Macy’s wants to help them increase sales and gain exposure to an audience of more than 16 million US shoppers.

Klarna is giving 10 small businesses a year of free buy-now-pay-later payment services, plus media services valued at $40,000 across our Klarna ecosystem to boost your sales.

Klarna defines small businesses as companies that make below or around $3M in annual revenue.

Galaxy Grants by Hidden Star

Galaxy Directory is growing to be the largest directory of minority and women owned businesses, and provides a great, easy shopping experience for people looking to purchase from (and support) minority businesses. Go.Be Elevate Fund

Get a business small business grant for up to $4,000

THE FUND WAS LAUNCHED TO SUPPORT GROWTH-PHASE MINORITY- AND WOMEN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES. AVAILABLE TO ANY GO.BE. CLIENT, THE ELEVATE FUND GRANTS UP TO $4,000 TOWARD PROJECTS DESIGNED TO HELP STABILIZE AND GROW SMALL BUSINESSES LED BY WOMEN AND ENTREPRENEURS OF COLOR.

The fund was launched to support growth phase minority and women owned small businesses. Available to any Go.Be client, the elevate fund grants up to $4,000 toward projects designed to help stabilize and grow small businesses led by women and entrepreneurs of color.

Eligibility: 

  • Businesses owned and run by entrepreneurs of color or women that have been operational for two years
  • Any Go.Be. client who actively meeting with their business coach

How the grant works

  • They pay 65% of project costs, up to $4,000. Grantees are obligated to pay the remaining 35% project cost and any amount over $4,000.
  • Project payments are made to the service provider directly. Example- If a business engages a website designer, accountant, marketing consultant, etc. for their project, Go.Be. will pay that provider directly at the conclusion of the project.
  • Grants are awarded on a monthly basis. To be eligible for any given month’s grant awards, applications must be submitted by the 15th.

The Nav.com Small Business Grant contest is a quarterly grant that funds one winner with $10k and the runner up with $5k.

The Accelerate(HER) fund by Tiger Global

In partnership with Hello Alice and the Global Entrepreneurship Network, Tiger Global Impact Ventures has launched The Accelerate(HER) Fund, a $1,000,000 commitment to increase access and accelerate entrepreneurship for women founders.

grants up to $50,000 to support women entrepreneurs building breakthrough technologies or tech-enabled companies. These entrepreneurs should have a demonstrated need for funding and a plan to reach their next stage of growth.

To be eligible, a business must:

  • Be a for-profit technology or technology-enabled company
  • Be majority woman-owned and operated (51%+)
  • Have not (yet) received funding from angel or venture investors

Walmart Small Businesses Grants

Walmart.org supports work directly related to our philanthropic strategies and geographic focus. For some programs, we invite proposals by directly contacting organizations for other programs we publish requests for proposals (RFPs), accept letters of inquiry (LOIs), or have an open application process.

Requirements vary, so it’s important to review eligibility requirements and program guidelines before starting your application.

Concept Note

Concept Note is accepted for the following programs: Access to Healthier Food. Nonprofit organizations must operate on a national scope through chapters / affiliates in many states around the country or through programs that operate regionally/locally but seek funding to replicate program activities nationally. Prior to submitting program ideas using the Concept Note format, please view the requirements and guidelines.

Community Grant Program

The Community Grant Program awards grants ranging from $250 to $5,000 000 through each of our facilities (Walmart Stores, Sam’s Clubs, and Logistics Facilities). Eligible nonprofit organizations must operate on the local level (or be an affiliate/chapter of a larger organization that operates locally) and directly benefit the service area of the facility from which they are requesting funding. Northwest Arkansas Giving Program
